Welcome back from the winter holidays!

PTA will meet at Apple Blossom on Thursday, Feb. 11th at 7pm. We are accepting nominations for board members for the 2010-2011 school year. Needed: President, membership committee, blogger, historian, and many other positions!

Also, please note that the date for the next School Board meeting has been changed. The Newsette has the incorrect date. The new date is Wed, Feb. 24th at 4:30pm at Apple Blossom. Come out and get involved!

Time to register for Kindergarten!!! Please come to the Open House on Feb 27th.

PTA Reflections Program

Help your child explore their artistic side by approaching the theme "Beauty is..." in one of six categories: Dance / Film / Literature / Music / Photography / Visual Arts.

These is a free program. Children compete by grade level: K - 2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12.

Entry forms and rules for each category are available in the Twin Hills District office and the Twin Hills Charter Middle School office.

Entries due by December 1, 2009. No late entries will be accepted.

PTA Membership Drive

Jsut $10 gets you our unwavering appreciation for a whole year!

Hurry, hurry, hurry. Step right up and join the PTA. The class that signs up the most members before November 13th will be treated to an ice cream party. Hooray!

PTA envelopes available in school offices. You may aslo join any time during the year.

Thanks to your support, the PTA is able to bring you Skate Nights, Family Education Nights, Kidpower, Rummage Sale, Teacher Appreciation Week.... and the Halloween Carnival (Sat., Oct. 24).

Holiday Fundraisers

The Halloween Carnival is a big fundraiser for our school, but other things are happening, too. First, we have a Sally Foster Gift Wrap sale at Apple Blossom. Sally Foster is more than gift wrap -- they sell chocolates and gourmet gifts -- and up to 50% of the proceeds go to the school! Hurry, fundraiser ends October 30th.

Next, there's a Foundation Christmas Tree Sale. Trees will be pre-sold until October 23 and can be picked up either Dec. 2 or Dec. 9 at the Victorian Christmas Tree Ranch.

Halloween Carnival, October 24th

The 52nd Apple Blossom Halloween Carnival is almost here!

Green News

Wow! Have you seen all the "green" going on at the Apple Blossom campus, lately? The garden is coming together nicely. Teams of 4th graders and 5th graders and some parents have been helping with the lunch-waste composting and recycling. We have been composting at big events, such as the Pasta Feed, and will do so again at the Halloween Carnival. And, we were recently accepted into a pilot program whereby Sonoma Compost picks up the food waste that is unacceptable for our worm bins and processes it into compost at their facility.

Walk-A-Thon; Cal Skate Night; Halloween Carnival

Two great fundraisers coming up TOMORROW -- Friday, October 2. First we have the Walk-a-Thon, which helps us keep assistants in the classrooms. Come out to count laps, serve water and muffins, or just cheer the kids on. It's always a lot of fun.

Tomorrow night is a Skate Night. The fun starts at 7pm at Cal Skate in Rohnert Park. The grade with the highest turnout gets a prize.

Also, if you haven't done so yet, please sign up to volunteer for the Halloween Carnival on Saturday, October 24, from 4:30-9pm. This is a fantastic event and the children love it, but we need volunteers to make it happen. There is a sign-up sheet at the entrance to Apple Blossom.

AB Garden - Work Day

Apple Blossom is expanding its garden. Join us at Apple Blossom with gloves, hat, water, lunch, and shovel in hand to help us install a deer fence, remove grass, and spread compost. There will be jobs for people of all skill/strength levels.

Tree House Hollow - Storyteller

Diane Ferlatte, award winning international storyteller, will be at Treehouse THIS Sunday, September 20th, from 3-6pm.

Tickets are $25/ family.

Funds raised will support the scholarship program. Popcorn included with admission ticket. Other refreshments and snacks will be sold as an additional fundraiser for the PTA.

Foundation Fundraiser - Pasta Feed

Mark your calendars .... The first Foundation fundraiser of the year is...

Friday September 25th, 5pm, in the Apple Blossom MUR

The Pasta King will be cater the event. Meals are $10 each. There will be air-brushed tattoos to buy, as well as spin art activities and maybe more.

Remember... buy your tickets early to get the $10 price...if you buy them at the door it will cost you $15 per meal.

trying something new

Hello THAB families!

We're trying something new this year--a newsette blog. After much idea-tossing the decision to try a blog came about. All parent groups (PTA and the Educational Foundation) will have access to this account and will be able to post updates whenever they choose--not just once a month. You will also have the ability to subscribe to the feed so you can be sure you won't miss anything. A link to the blog will also be posted on the district website.

This is an exciting step in providing up-to-date communication and we hope you like it. Feel free to post positive comments...this is your platform too.
